Asia: Delays at Key Transshipment Hubs
- Singapore, the world’s busiest transshipment port, is currently experiencing container
dwell times of 7.1 days on average, driven by rerouting from the Red Sea, increased
throughput, and yard congestion. - Port Klang and Tanjung Pelepas are similarly facing equipment shortages and tight
yard space. - Qingdao and Ningbo, major gateways in China, are dealing with vessel bunching and
capacity strain at inland depots.
🇪🇺 Northern Europe: Labor & Inland Disruptions Deepen Backlogs - Rotterdam is seeing dwell times reach 9.1 days, the highest among major global ports.
- Antwerp containers are sitting an average of 6.7 days, compounded by recent union
strikes and high volumes. - Bremerhaven reports high vessel wait times and backlogs as inland rail disruptions and
strikes continue.
Port terminals—especially Antwerp’s DP World Terminal—have implemented emergency
measures: - Reducing export truck slots to 30%
- Rejecting new import/transshipment cargo from nearby ports
- Adjusting berth priorities to speed up critical flows
Rail services in Germany and the Netherlands are also disrupted by landslides and detours,
causing long delays into Rotterdam, Duisburg, and Hamburg.
Other Factors
There are also others factors that bring the condition worsen, as below:
- The main reasons are the phasing in and out of new alliances of shipping lines that will
take a few more weeks to be settle down, it reduce some vessel schedule temporary - Anticipation of the US import tariffs, make major manufacturers charter the vessel for
sending the goods to US. - Stakeholder strike (trucking, port workers) has an issue for potentially strike especially in
Bangladesh, US, Europe.
